Education

Our Transport Educators are Sophie Stephenson and Alison Robinson. They work with all team members to ensure they receive a comprehensive induction at the start of their transport career as well as working with our experienced team members in order to keep them up to date with equipment and new processes.

They are supported by our Consultant Team Dr Andy Currie, Dr Deepa Panjwani, Dr Puneet Nath, Dr Arthi Lakshmanan and Dr Julia Edwards.

Additional to this we have 3 experienced ANNP’s, Tim Styche, Sam Bird and Emma Blackburn, who also provide educational support for our service.

Our team support our in house education program as well as offering outreach educational support. Our in house program consists of specific training days covering a wide variety of subjects to ensure our team are kept up to date. Topics previously have this included:

Cardiac      Sepsis        Persistent pulmonary hypertension

ECMO        Nitric Oxide        Theraputic hypothermia        CFAM

Hydrops         Hypoglycaemia     Communication    Simulation sessions

Our transport nurses are expected to attend a minimum of 2 education days every year. We also welcome our junior medical colleagues, our drivers from St John Ambulance, our clerical support and our paediatric transport colleagues from COMET to join us on these days.

We have regular weekly huddles and monthly updates in person or via MS Teams. These are short, snappy 30 – 45 minute sessions in the morning before the teams start their jobs for the day where we aim to cover relevant topics, service updates etc.
